Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) is the psychotherapeutic use of dance and movement to engage individuals in furthering the cognitive, emotional and physical wellbeing through the integration of neurological and psychological connections with the body.   The expressive movement experience provides benefits to obtain self-awareness, self-understanding, and insight into our social interaction dynamics.   DMT can have many aims including the restoration of balance and integration in physical function, sensory-motor and perceptual motor development, enhance learning skills, develop empathic skills, emotional expression, improve communication skills and mental functioning.  It is suitable for children and adults from all genders, race and ethnic background with or without dance experience. It offers a fun and supportive environment that is flexible to respond to the needs of the clients with a wide range of specified and non-specified disorders and special needs.  Most Dance Movement Therapists are trained in counseling skills and group facilitation."
